MACRO Activity

Macro…

By using macro, you can do whatever you can in just seconds. You could manipulate the whole excel file with it. A macro-enabled worksheet sure would be fun.

In Macros, you could format fonts, create charts and fill color. By just pressing the shortcuts, the cell will automatically format itself.

During our activity, we made bold, underlined and italicized fonts, colored and filled cells, put borders, and produce charts. The special part of it is the game. We made a customized game using Macro. We created a Minesweeper-like game that you have to find the bomb. This activity involves recording macros, filling colors, and especially conditional formatting. When it’s red not yellow, you hit the jackpot! Fun game, right?

MACRO

Another knowledge. Another challenge.

This day, we learned a new and important lesson in creating worksheets. A special function made to help us work faster.

The MACRO…

Macro is a function which is at the same time, a command. It is a function that needs some recording. On the view page, you can create your self-made macro. Just record it, do the command you want to make, and stop recording. Make sure that you made your own shortcut. Then, by typing the keys, you could make the changes in just a short period of time. Macros are made for functions needed for multiple cells. It is made for us not to format cells one by one.

Macro is a great example of a machine. An automatic machine.

Group Activity

Paul and Kiwi. This is our team. We are assigned to do an Excel worksheet about datas in we created a file about charts.

We collected some datas from the website that shows people and their percentages of life and work. We divided each category per sheet. Each category is mostly consisted of population, age, percentage and number of births/deaths. And for each data, we made a chart.

A chart that corresponds to the set of data that you collected. These charts show comparison, division and emphasis to the amount or number of data. These charts are the easier way. It is an illustration that shows graphs. And these graphs will show the difference without a word. 

Solver

This one is the last but not the easiest. The solver is one of the hardest worksheets that we did. It is consisted of 5 sheets. Each sheet contains a formula that I need to redo. Not just creating representations and formulas, you have to apply a mathematical solution to it. It is mostly consisted of areas, volumes, quadratic expression and also theory of relativity. We have to copy exactly the formula in our excel sheet. Also, that formula must be double checked to be correct. This solver is a practice for us so that we don’t have to solve charts manually but automatically.

Grades Rubric

In this activity, Sir Tom gave us a real grading sheet that could record our grades in actual. We are left with a grading sheet that is composed of recordings of our exams, quizzes, tests, projects, and others. We must get the average of each category based on its percentage. We must apply the formula making in the process. We must also get the final average.

At the last part, we must create a remark. We must create a conditional formatting that states the condition for the final average. It is fun… yet it’s hard.

Ranks

This is the first time we made an activity about excel. And it is about creating IF conditions that also involve conditional formatting. Enter a value in a cell. Create a condition that corresponds to the value of the cell. This is one of the hardest parts because I must make the right condition for the rank to appear correctly. (for the first time)

Another one in the activity is the conditional formatting. You have to format the condition of the value. The right color must be with the right rank. Just also the right format for the condition. I know, I have found new knowledge today. And I’m sure that this is just the beginning.  

Charts

Since, Microsoft Excel is my favorite Microsoft program, I am always excited to learn something new about this worksheet. But, learning the classics isn't that bad. This time, I learned how to create charts in the Microsoft Excel worksheet.
In creating charts, you first have to make tables that contain datas. Then you can convert those datas into charts in the insert page. You can also modify it in any kind.
Easy right, easy as an apple pie (chart)...

IF...

One of the best function Excel has made is the IF condition. A condition in which you can freely use rules. You have nothing to do in creating a function.

Just if…

In it, you could make rules that satisfy the cell’s number. Or you could create one thing that is connected to the formula. You could also format it in any ways. The IF condition is so cool that in a matter of seconds you can turn your worksheet into many different formats. Every condition you create, every good result you will see.

It’s an easy function, you can use it all the time to lighten your work. It will be mostly used to create a representation of a data. To create a condition that could satisfy the information with its corresponding condition. Only if… the construction of the rule is right.

Math-tulungin

In Microsoft Excel, almost everything is about math solving. And this program is almost ready for your basic math needs. It has the enough tools to make life easier. And those are the things that we have to know and get familiar with.

In the program, there are already some formulas stored. We just have to fill them datas and use them properly. In a blink of an eye, you will have the final answer. It’s easy as that as well as you know how to use it correctly.

The other good thing that we could use is the functions. Not just the stored functions, you can freely create some for your worksheet. There are so many rules and conditions that we could use to create useful functions. To make your amount of time and energy saved. Only we could know how to use three special features for your excel, your work will be a piece of cake. They are designed for you to use it wisely.   

New Chapter

"New chapter, new story."
Finally, Microsoft Powerpoint is done. And I am going to see another part of my computer learning book. And I'm quite happy, I'm gonna learn something I am interested and familiar with.

Internet Violations

In using internet, we have so much things we could do. But sometimes, what we are doing is now illegal. These should be stopped or we're going to get our consequences. And these violations have struck the whole internet world from day to day.

These violations are sometimes forgotten and violated. Some of them were nt easily to be recognized as a violation. And others are the most and common violations internet is facing.


  

Cramming

Procrastination is one of things I’m best in doing it. When given activities to work out, I always waste time before finishing it. When facing a computer, I always get tempted to do wrong things like playing games. Time is always running before the deadline. But 1 second before the deadline, time gets me running. Like doing this blog, I did my best to cram in making it. In times of cramming, my mind runs faster than a cheetah. When there are 30 minutes left, I still managed to play games. But in the last 5 minutes, I will look like a person lost in nowhere. Everytime I cram, everytime I see my true self. This is ComSCi.                                

Moodle

When talking about online, what I always first remember is Moodle. A website about the Philippine Science High School news, programs, profiles, lessons, curriculum, and other things about the campus. When we have assignments, projects, group works, and other quizzes, it is the common place that we look for first. This is where we search for our lessons in the first place. And this is the main thing that connects me to Computer Science. What we do in the computer laboratory is going to be found here. And the Moodle will be the last thing I will see before submissions.

Newest Activities

Since the beginning of 2^nd quarter, I have encountered so many lessons which are beyond my knowledge. At change, I gave my full effort and needed expertise to fulfill these goals. And because of these activities, I learned so many new things. I knew how to use new programs and do many cool things.  The HTML, its featured tags, and presentations like CSS. These made me closer to Information Technology and do things online. I learned many things that I don’t have any idea before. These activities gave me confidence to strive for more knowledge about computers. It helps me understand more about technology, until the end.

Internet Rules

"Follow the netiquette".
Nettiquette=Internet + etiquette. To simplify, it means the set of internet rules. It is doing something correctly and in the right way not abiding laws. And what are these? These are what I learned in ComSci.
There are 10 main rules about internet. And these things talk about legality.

Techy Challenge

Microsoft Office Powerpoint

"Better Beginning."
Truly in my life, I had never been such a good "techy". The things i do in front of a computer, they're just some small observations from what others are doing. Now that 2nd quarter has began, I'm now in a serious trouble.
But before we start the war, we must first train. Sir Tom taught us the "tips" in making an effective powerpoint presentation. I surely liked that for my recent situation.
It taught me how to be a writer in a program./ How to write a short but brief contents. It also helped me to improve my simplicity level in working. Some helpful tips like lesser slides, use of colors and lay-outing. It gave me tips on how to be creative like putting images and graphics. Best of all, it taught me how to present a presentation. Timing, understanding, stoppages, sources and edition.
By this training, I learned the important things in creating a powerpoint presentations. Everytime I create these, I always try to look on the important things first. Now, type size, key words, readability, every word and image is not a problem to me. 
I always make sure that my presentation is informative enough and worthy to be preented.

CSS Presentation

"CSS Presentation"

Cascading... Style... Sheet.

A style which could be used in creating a world wide web. Contains the main domains in creating designs for web pages. A sheet which is separated from an HTML, but is still going to be applied through it.

This is CSS.

It improves a document's appearance.It reduces work by creating commands visually and not compressing many in an HTML file. It can customize page style and size. And most important of all, it serves as an style sheet presentation alongside with contents of HTML.

Using links, attributes, and style tags, these sheets are very useful in creating presentation commands for HTMLs. Without these, you will work overnight just to put a ton of tags in your document.
CSS could do a lot better than HTML tags. It has more properties than an HTML document in terms of background designs, images, fonts, texts, and borders. It is more portable to use and easier. Just link it to an HTML document and... yes. Your HTML document will be something that you've never expected.

Finesse

"Add some finesse to it".
All things could look cool in many simple ways. And doing this technique in HTMLs are one of its best.
Most of us could easily got affected by putting some add-ins into our work. Especially when we see some cool ande new things, like automatic and visual effects. And that's why adding images, links, and charts make my HTMLs look AWESOME!
Images are not just pictures. They are the illustrations that give color and meaning of a work. Tables are not just charts. They are diagrams that give consistency and accuracy. And most of all the hyperlinks. One of the best connection that relates something to another HTML, a very effective shortcut. These three effective add-ins could make your webpage more interesting, yet more reliable.

In creating images, I-M-G are used iside brackets. Then SRC will be used next to state the source or url of the image. In order to create tables, "table" tag is used. Table will be divided into rows, and into data cells. These datas could contain images, links and others. Header info could also be defined. In hyperlinks, the "a" tag represents it. A hyperlink can be used to jump into another document. The "href" attribute defines the link destination.
With these special stuffs, a web page would be easier to visit and have a look

HTML Effects

"Once it begin, it will never stop."
When I knew how to create HTMLs, I imagine myself being a web creator and one of the best page designers. Since the basics was made, I want to learn more about these new stuff and do something I've never tried. One of the best things that encourage me was the websites. I always see some web pages everytime I open Google. So I taught of making one myself,too.
One of the interesting subjects are the keywords in tags. I always want to change it and try different effects. With this text formatting, I realized that designing could be made just by typing random letters. These are different keywords that shows different effects in text when viewed in the webpage.There are also keywords that satisfy to design fonts and colors. The face, size and color of text will be so easy to manipulate. Formatting these attributes will make your web page more appealing and good-looking.
With those experiments taking in place, I myself have so much fun in accomplishing activities.
From words to effects.

HTML

"New Discoveries".
HTML... sounds cool. But honestly, I'm not familiar with it until we talked about it.
Hyper... Text... Markup... Language. It means that it is a language that talked about web pages. My classmates said that it is used to create web pages that we see everytime we open the internet. Indeed it is right, it is a cool program that uses tags in order to create pages. And these tags describe a document associated with plain texts.
How to create an HTML is an unusual process. These tags are consisted of  key words surrounded by angle brackets. And these tags always come in twos. One which is a keyword in brackets and the other one a slash before the keywords surrounded by angle brackets. They are the opening and closing tags. Then you write a text between those tags which is the text going to be presented or used. There are also some special effects regarding creating HTML documents. They are the attributes or other symbols with the tags.
I know that they seems all new to me, but I'm still glad that I can do something which is way beyond my knowledge and experience. Creating an HTML gives me confidence and strive for more on how to discover the explanation of technology in my everyday surfing and researches.

Living in Modern Era

"This is our era."
I lived in a generation built in with technology. This is the time when the evolution was completed and will still continue. It is a time when you will notice that everybody around you is related to technology. This is our era, the era of computers.
With some gadgets and stuff. With smart people designing a robot's mind. With engineers and scientists working for the country's sake. It is now in the modern time. More and more discoveries are still going to be found out. This is our era.
And as a scholar of our country, I will do my best in the present until the future to reach my goals and help attaining a country that lives easily with the help of machines and usable inventions. I will contribute my mind, body and spirit for the good future of everyone of us.

Fun Learning

"It's more fun in ComSci."
Inside the Computer Laboratory, you will find computers, aircon, a big monitor and all other technological stuff. Visually, it is not just good but also in other aura it can give to us. It is a wonderful place to learn inside with the computers. It is where you will feel more comfortable because of the fresh air and good feeling. All of the class will be glad and contented to have the ComSci period inside here. It is a nice place to start.
Inside, thare will be someone that will lead you. Someone that will give you knowledge. Someone that will give you pain and stress. Someone that is cool and not boring. Someone that will make you earn grades to show. He is Sir Tom Jordan Secundo.

Creative Designer

"Your work reflects to your personality."                                    
Arts is one of the most significant factor in our life.

I will try to improve my soft spot. Creative designing is my main weakness since I was very young. In Computer Science, I tried my best to surpass my limit in doing it so. In all of our activities, it is needed to add more mix-ins for your grade to be higher. I know that I can do well with all of the contents, still I fail to be creative in designing. With this subject, I will now stand a chance in changing my life and be a better designer. I will do anything to improve and try arts in a whole new level, computers. Because of this, I can perform better to other subjects, too. I could finish my work with determination and confidence.
Thanks to Computer Science, I could be an artist in my own rights and I can upgrade my standards in designing creativity.

Microsoft Office Word

"One of the best."
Computer Science includes teachings to student in using office applications for them to be trained for the future.
One of the most hands-on activities we made in Computer Science is the Microsoft Word practice.
In these lesson we made several activities refferring to how good can we use and create Microsoft Word.
We practiced about typing, words, their colors, fonts and styles. We learned how to arrange paragraphs properly and how to format the whole page one by one.
We also learned how to insert pictures, links, videos and other graphics using clip arts.
We learned the format of pages using headers and footer with the other page features.
Of course, we trained about lay-outing pages and the whole document with different styles and creativeness.
Lastly, we studied about adding references and mailings in your files.
Thanks to Microsoft Word, I will be prepared to create documents with ease and do documents faster.

Time Management

"Time is gold."

In all of our activities, we must need a good start and a good ending. And if we will work faster than the clock, we will finish our tasks and achieve a peaceful mind. But if you will not understand it carefully or not be patient in following directions, you will just do nothing and cram. So, we need time in everything we do.

In smart studying, we must first listen to the discussion to know what we are going to do. You will consume more time if you will still think of what to do than doing the processes. Especially for hands-on activities, we need a complete focus of mind to complete the task correctly. You must work and cooperate with time for you to understand each other. Also, try not to be distracted by other factors so that you will not lose your focus. In under time pressure, you must still do your work properly with the right creativeness and completeness of content.

Thanks to Computer Science, I learned how to manage my time in front of the computer in doing activities that needs enough time to finish.

Command Prompt

"In life, discoveries are found not made."
One of the coolest lessons that I have learned in Computer Science was when we are studying GUI-based Navigation. At first, I really have no idea about our lesson, that's why I kept in my mind to listen carefully about what Sir is going to say.


The first step that Sir gave us to do is to open the Start Menu and choose Run. I was very excited because I usually did not use the Run prompt. Then we are told to type CMD and enter... Suddenly, a strange program showed in front of my eyes with a white and black color. It seems that it's a computer brain that it can function like a robot.



This is the Command Prompt. This is where you can navigate all of your files through text-based commands. I was glad to know that Sir told us that it could be very interesting and usable, but at the same time it could be dangerous for it can control and monitor the whole computer by just typing commands.
It was so fun to know some commands and apply it to the files. We learned so much that we can create, view, remove, or rename files or directories.
Thanks to Command Prompt, I learned an easier way to manage files in just one program without looking at it and just typing.

Introduction to Softwares

"New world means new life."

With the introduction of Computer Science to us, there must also be a content that will fill the jar.

For a computer, there must be a system that will operate the programs and organize the files. And that is the File Organization. It has its own file management system that will manage all of the things your computer possessed. It will interact with everything you want to view and will provide usable features which can help you perform activities better.

For a computer, it needs an application common used in important tasks or for vital business. Office Application is the answer. It contains applications for word processing, spreadsheet, database and e-mailing. it contains feature that can help you do more with your file. It is the modern paper for doing office works.

And if you're in front of your computer using internet, that is called, Web Service. It is a software that needs internet to process and produce output.

Thanks to these softwares, life would be easier using computers. The computer will have its body parts that we can use at work.

Technology doesn't always mean concrete materials, but it is informing and communicating through it. After processing, the significance of this technology will be more emphasized by transmitting information to computer systems.


An "Information and Communication Technology" (ICT) requires not just the computer or the hardware. But also the people, data, information, procedures and software.
It functions as a form of digital technology that transports information to other systems or to human users. It captures and converts data to produce information. Computer Science is very confusing with all its instrunction and commands needed to be followed and carried out.
Thanks to Computer Science, all of the ICT systems, will be connected to each other and will be related in communicating data or information.

Branches Related to Computer Science

Computers have its own characteristics. Its purposes is for creating, produces, stores, and communicate programs. It is based on what you want to do with the information you have. It involves developing and managing data for processing and distributing it using networks, systems and software.





For short, it has a powerful ability that will support an easy management/maintenance of information. Because of this, many people could manipulate computer systems in instant methods. It will also result to an easy networking and telecommunication with other technologies.
Thanks to Technology, I could easily transport and convert information. It is very vital in processing data for general uses and sustaining my needs in related applications.
